Who We Are
The Birmingham Healthy Air Coalition was set up in 2024 by Clean Air Justice Network & The Active Wellbeing Society with support from Asthma & Lung UK, acting on behalf of the UK wide Healthy Air Coalition, with the Clean Air Justice Network & The Active Wellbeing Society taking on the hosting of the coalition.
Background
Air pollution is the Uk’s most dangerous environmental threat. It’s an invisible public health crisis – one that’s been ignored for far too long. We must take urgent action now and push for better laws that protect our right to breathe clean, safe air. The Healthy Air Coalition is calling on our government to take meaningful action on the UK’s air pollution crisis. We’re uniting over 20 NGOs, charities and changemakers to reduce sources of modern air pollution, improve existing legislation and bring in new, stronger clean air laws – so we can protect the health of everyone in the UK.

Background
The Active Wellbeing Society is a community benefit society and cooperative working to build healthy, happy communities living active and connected lives. We are grounded in the communities where inequalities are at their highest, and we work with them to tackle inequality and promote community development.
We want to help create a kind, inclusive society where resources are shared according to need. We recognise we all need to play our part in improving community wellbeing, including working together to meet our own wellbeing needs- including the need for food, physical activity and mental health.
We deliver a wide range of free activities and services aimed at improving wellbeing at an individual and community level. By working collaboratively with communities, we aim to bring about sustainable change on a social, environmental and economic level. This will make communities more resilient and remove barriers that prevent them from living active and connected lives.
We all need clean air to live, grow and thrive. The Clean Air Fund are a philanthropic initiative tackling global air pollution. We work with governments, funders, businesses and campaigners to deliver clean air for all as fast as possible.
We aim to improve our natural world, secure a fairer future and strengthen the bonds in communities in the UK. We do this by contributing all that we can to unlock change by people and organisations with brilliant ideas who share our goals.
